Egg-Bot Electro-Kistka

Hot wax pen EggBot accessory, for decorating eggs and other objects with traditional wax-resist and dye methods
Not currently available

The Electro-Kistka for EggBot is a compact kistka — a hot wax dispensing pen — designed to work with the EggBot. With it, you can use the traditional wax-resist and dye (batik) method to produce stunning colorful eggs in the same fashion as Ukranian pysanky eggs.

Three-tone Egg In the example shown here, we first "paint" the wax logo on a bare (white) egg, and then dye the egg red and allow it to dry. We then paint additional wax onto the egg (the words "Electro-Kistka"), and finally dye the egg black and allow it to dry again. Then, after melting away the surface wax, we reveal the design: a black background, with red and white areas.

Repeated application with care can produce more detailed designs, with additional color layers.

(These intense red and black colors are from our batik egg dyes.)

Additional product notes:

1. This is a tool that gets hot while in use. There are exposed hot surfaces. Hot surfaces and wax can cause burns and damage to property; use appropriate cautions while operating the kistka, and do not allow children to use the tool unsupervised.

2. The Electro-Kistka for EggBot is not suitable for handheld use. If you would like a handheld kistka, we highly recommend the Electric Kistka by Folk Impressions, which uses the same tips and accessories. (To be clear, the Electro-Kistka for EggBot uses tips, wax, and accessories manufactured by Folk Impressions for their Electric Kistka.)

3. A special note on skill level. It is straightforward to use the Electro-Kistka for EggBot to produce two-tone eggs, that use only a single layer of wax resist. However, without a special adapter such as our Wax Coupler for EggBot, it can be challenging to precisely reposition an egg after removing it for dying. Thus, it takes considerable patience and experience to produce multicolor eggs with good alignment between subsequent color layers. When possible, it is helpful to add indexing marks in the design to assist in repositioning the egg, and/or create designs that are less sensitive to registration between layers.
